Learning about the different ways to collect and analyze data through surveys was very useful. I used the google docs to create my survey. I was able to create a survey about the main soccer skills between Messi and Ronaldo. From this survey I would like to see what people think about these two great soccer players. I looked at the you tube video and the instructions were very simple to follow. On the other links that were proposed by Scott, I found new information on companies like WebSurveyMaster online survey software. This company has some great tools to help businesses to find what their clients needs are and their expectations. This is a significant tool that perhaps different type of organizations can utilize to improve their services and adapt their strategic planning program. Many of these tools can be utilized in a similar way by soccer coaches and teams to get feedback from players, parents and fans. PE teachers as well can use some of these tools to find out important information to design their educational plan from surveys and data analysis provided by these types of companies. I was able to bookmark the OpenStat website to use in the future. "OpenStat contains a large variety of parametric, nonparametric, multivariate, measurement, statistical process control, financial and other procedures. One can also simulate a variety of data for tests, theoretical distributions, multivariate data". This is a great software tool for any type of research.

Professional networking are really popular for people in general. Most people before they plan to meet someone will search online about the person. Even when companies plan to hire someone they research their network before or after interviewing them. (twitter, LinkedIn or Facebook) Either Facebook or LinkedIn are the most popular search engine if you want to know something about some else. Both social networking vehicles allow you to see their connection and who are their closest relations. I believe technology enhanced and give us more resources to increase our professional networking. Having a professional website or even LinkedIn account is always important. But at the end of the day if you don't have a professional face to face approach people will find out quick. This also depend of what type of business line you are or what profession? if you provided an 100% online services, your web presence is critical because that is all people can see. Now for some other professions it may not has so much impact. In my personal opinion I think that having good professional networking strategies is critical because of the tremendous influence technology has today over society and where the future in going in relation to the different technological advances.
Wikis is a valuable educational tool. The interaction level and team work makes of this a valuable resource for the educational system. One of the concerns is the openness and constantly changes of the information. It can be difficult for student to depend 100% in Wikipedia accuracy. One of the teachers on our Master program does not want students using Wikipedia as reference source of portfolios for the classes. Another concern that I read in one of the article was the security problems, with people outside the group that they join the group and use the website in the wrong way (pornography).
Roy Rosenzweig on his article: Can History Be Open Source? mentioned "More specifically, students in an online program benefit from what is called a dual education, mastering online interaction as well as the curriculum"
This is something that we face on the daily basis in our online Masters' program. We are working constantly on the curriculum of the Kinesiology classes but we have been expose to a huge amount of information on the area of online interaction.
I have both of these social media tools and there is a huge difference between both of them. Facebook is a socialization website that most people use to connect with others on a personal level. Mostly friends and family members. You would post pictures from the weekend or send jokes to friends on Facebook. You can like or comment on other people personal posts (funny/sad). On the other hand LinkedIn has a more business profile. This is more of a professional marketing tool. Most people today do not even ask for business cards, they rather request you on linked in and learn about you through your profile. The age of LinkedIn users is people in their 30's and up. In fact this is one of the most used vehicles for recruiting in today's business world. Companies spend a lot of money and other resources trying to recruit top professionals for their labor force. LinkedIn has become one of the best allies for these types of companies.
"60 apps in 60 minutes" and "20 amazing Ipad apps for teachers" are great resources for professors to have. I personally liked "20 amazing ipad apps for teachers" better because the format is easier to follow and with a click you can be on the website of the app you selected. This is more specific for teachers and you can easily find the app for your subject if you are a teacher. I already downloaded many of these apps in my phone and I found a lot of value using them. It makes your life more enjoyable because you don't have to spend a lot of time on a website looking for the information you need. I hope we can find more of these kind of resources for coaches. Also one of my concerns is that most of these apps are for Apple products. I searched for the same apps on Microsoft and they were not available. Hopefully we can have more Microsoft apps that we can use in the area of coaching especially in soccer.
This article was an eye opener for me. Probably half of these tools were new to me. I can say that 25% of them I was very familiar with or I am currently using. One of the things that surprise me the most was that 10 of the top 100 tools of 2013 were brand new tools! This was very shocking to me because it make me realize how fast technology is advancing every year. On the other side, (thanks to this class) during a period of 2 or 3 weeks I have already learned over ten great technological tools that can be very handy for my coaching career.
Many of these tools on the list are great technological resources. All of them are well designed and can enhance your experience dealing with common issues or areas where you need to improve. Personally I like the most "Netvibe, dashboard for everything". This program allows you to have "Everything that matters to you, all in one dashboard". You can manage all your internet accounts from this page. example: you can manage twitter, pictures and apps. The reason I like this idea is because it has the RSS reader on the page and it is pretty simple to use. Sometimes managing different email accounts, instagram, facebook, youtube, etc can be too much. With Netvibe you can have everything in your dashboard...impressive!!
